Somerset West band: DeathLikeDaisies enters the prestigious Durex Ultimate
Battle
The band "DeathLikeDaisies" - A post-hardcore band based in the
Somerset - West/Stellenbosch areas - has entered the prestigious Durex Ultimate
Battle with high hopes of being the first Western Cape band to win this
contest.
The Durex Ultimate Battle is a nationwide search for live bands,
both educating and rewarding original musicians across the country and
presenting one winner with a string of the ultimate in prizes; everything a band
needs to launch its live music career. In the last four years, every winning
band has been based in Gauteng, and this year DeathlikeDaisies plan to bring
home the title to the Western Cape.
DeathLikeDaisies is a young band
consisting of five members; Dominic Zimmerman, Oliver Harrison, John Du Toit,
Christi Du Toit and Matt Crisp. Their music blend is unique and fresh; an
exciting blend of punk and hard rock with strong melodies and unusually mature
lyrics.
Says guitarist Dominic, “Our goals are to share our music with as
many people as we can and give people a good time. We hope to make the public
enjoy our music and bring a new style to the South African music scene. We truly
think we can achieve this goal with enough commitment and perseverance. One of
our main goals is to win the Durex Ultimate Battle showcasing to the whole
country our talent, and learning as much as possible about the music industry
while having a really good time for ourselves and our
fans.”
DeathLikeDaisies recently recorded their first demo called "Don't
Play With Strangers" produced and mixed by Uys Visser at the Franschoek
Recording Studios. The song is available on the band’s facebook
group.
DeathlikeDaisies will be competing on the 15th of October at the
Klein Libertas Teatre alongside 4 other Western Cape bands. To help provide a
winning edge, the band will be launching its own competition to encourage public
support for them in the Durex Ultimate Battle. All DeathLikeDaisies flyers will
have contact details on the back that fans should fill out and bring to the
show. Not only will they receive a discount at the door, but they also stand a
chance to win an 8GB IPOD Nano on the night. Flyers are also available for
download on the band website.
